Kasey Paez presented at the 2019 Apeiron Showcase at Washburn University. Paez's presentation, titled "Trauma and Conflict Resolution in Colombia," discussed her experience studying abroad in Colombia. Apeiron is an annual event that allows students to showcase their research, scholarship, creative activities and community engagement activities.

Washburn University Students Recognized at Kansas Society of Radiologic Technologists Annual Convention

Washburn University students were recognized for their work at the Kansas Society of Radiologic Technologists' Annual Convention in March. The convention took place in Wichita to bring together radiologic technologists and medical imaging professionals in Kansas for education and development. Along with competitions, there were workshops, vendors and speakers. The Kansas Society of Radiologic Technologists is the professional society for radiologic technologists and medical imaging professionals in Kansas. They are an affliate society of the ASRT and serve to advocate for the medical imaging professionals in health policy, education, and advancing modalities.

Washburn University awarded the Fix Scholarship to 14 incoming freshman for the 2019-2020 school year. The Fix Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship awarded by the Washburn University College of Arts and Sciences to incoming high school students who have earned a strong ACT score and have an interest in studying the natural sciences.

These students took courses through Washburn University while still in high school as part of a concurrent enrollment program (CEP). Washburn University's chapter of Alpha Lamda Delta, freshman honor society, initiated its 2019 class of members. The mission of Alpha Lambda Delta is to encourage superior academic achievement among students in their first year in institutions of higher education. Students who receive a 3.5 GPA or higher in their first semester are eligible for membership.

Phi Theta Kappa Chapter at Washburn University Inducts New Members

The Alpha Mu Omicron chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society inducted five new members this spring. The chapter was founded at Washburn University's School of Applied Studies in 1987. Phi Theta Kappa is the official honor society of two-year colleges, but any institution which confers associate degrees may have a chapter.

Washburn University is proud to announce the winners of the 2018 Business Plan Competition. The competition is for any Washburn University or Washburn Tech student to present their original business idea to a panel. Students can enter as individuals or teams. The top five entries win cash prizes. Washburn Students Receive Scholarships from Kansas Masonic Foundation, Inc.

The Kansas Masonic Foundation, Inc., the charitable arm of the Grand Lodge of Kansas and Kansas Masons, recently announced they have awarded 27 scholarships to Washburn University students for the 2018-19 academic year. The scholarships, which range from $500 to $5,000, are awarded to graduating high school seniors and students already attending Washburn.
