Washburn University has announced its fall 2019 Dean's List honorees. To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must be enrolled in 12 hours of graded credits and earn a semester grade point average of 3.4 to 3.99. More than 950 undergraduate and graduate students qualified for the Dean's List. Congratulations to all of these students, Washburn University is proud of their hard work and commitment to their education.

Washburn University has announced its President's List honorees for the spring 2019 semester. To qualify for the President's List, a student must complete at least 12 hours of graded credits and earn a semester grade point average of 4.0. Nearly 650 students qualified for the President's List. Washburn University is proud of these students and their commitment to excellence.

Six students were chosen as the Nall Speak Off finalists in the fall 2019 competition. These students were nominated by their peers to represent their public speaking classes in the Nall Speak Off Competition that took place Wednesday, Nov. 13. Nineteen students participated in the competition.

Nineteen Washburn University students were selected to be Resident Assistants for the 2019-2020 school year. Resident Assistants (RAs) are student leaders who live on the premises and are responsible for approximately 50 residents for the academic year. Some of their job responsibilities include programming for their community, serving as a campus resource to students, serving on duty rotation for their complex, disseminating information to residents about policies and procedures, and mediating roommate/suitemate conflicts.

Forty-one incoming Washburn University students received the Wiseman Scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year. The Wiseman Scholarship is a $500 renewable scholarship awarded to select high school seniors who graduated from Topeka High School, Topeka West High School, or Highland Park High School.

Sixty-seven incoming Washburn University students received transfer academic scholarships. These renewable scholarships are available for students who are transferring in the fall from a Kansas community college or specific Missouri community college with at least 24 credit hours and a 3.0 GPA or higher. Award amounts vary from $500 to $1,500 and are based on GPA.

Three incoming Washburn University students earned the Richey Scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year. The prestigious Richey Scholarship is a $7,000 renewable scholarship awarded to select students who achieve a high school GPA of 3.9 or higher, an ACT composite score of 28 or higher, and who will be living on campus. Qualifying students are invited to apply by Washburn's Office of Enrollment Management.

Sixteen incoming Washburn University students were awarded the Presidential Scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year. The Presidential Scholarship is a $1,000 renewable scholarship awarded to select students from each Shawnee County high school with a GPA of 3.25 or higher. Students must be nominated by their high school guidance counselor.

Thirty-five incoming Washburn University students received the $1,000 Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship. This one-time scholarship is available for transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa, an honor society for two-year colleges.

Three incoming Washburn University were awarded the $3,000 Hindman Scholarship. This scholarship is a renewable scholarship available to select students who graduated from a Rooks County high school.

More than 300 incoming Washburn University students received a freshman academic scholarship. These renewable scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and an ACT composite score of 21 or higher. Scholarship award amounts range from $500 to $5,000 based on academic performance.

Twelve incoming Washburn University students were awarded the Glatt Scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year. The Glatt Scholarship is a $1,000 renewable scholarship available for select students who graduated from a Dickinson County high school.

Incoming Washburn University students have been awarded the Garvey Scholarship for the fall 2019 semester. The Garvey Scholarship is a renewable scholarship worth up to $2000, awarded to students with the highest scores on the Garvey Competitive Exam. The exam is offered several times a year at Washburn University. High school seniors with a GPA of 3.25 or higher, who have previously applied for admittance to Washburn, qualify to take the exam.

The Mary N. Fix Scholarship was awarded to 14 incoming Washburn University students for the fall 2019 semester. The Mary N. Fix Scholarship is a $1,500 renewable scholarship awarded to select high school graduating seniors who are pursuing a degree in biology, chemistry, or physics.

Incoming Washburn University students were awarded the Finnup Scholarship for the 2019 fall semester. The Finnup Scholarship is a $2,000 renewable scholarship awarded to select students who have graduated from a high school in one of the following Kansas counties: Clark, Comanche, Finney, Ford, Grant, Gray, Greeley, Hamilton, Haskell, Hodgeman, Kearny, Lane, Mead, Morton, Ness, Scott, Seward, Stanton, Stevens, or Wichita.
