The Top Hat chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta at Washburn University is an honor society that distinguishes first-year academic success. It is part of the nationally recognized Alpha Lambda Delta honor society that was created in 1924. Alpha Lambda Delta at Washburn University was founded in 2007 and has inducted more than 750 students in the last decade. These students are now part of a society that encourages academic achievement, leadership skills and community service. Membership in Alpha Lambda Delta is open to full-time first-year students who earn a 3.5 GPA or higher during the first semester of their freshman year at Washburn.

Washburn University Awards Presidential Scholarship
Washburn University has awarded the Presidential Scholarship to 17 incoming students for the 2021-2022 school year. The Presidential Scholarship is a $1,000 renewable scholarship awarded to select students from each Shawnee County high school or home school. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and be nominated by their high school guidance counselor.

Washburn Awards Richey Scholarship to Three Students
Washburn University has awarded the Richey Scholarship to three incoming freshmen for the 2021-2022 school year. The Richey Scholarship is Washburn's premier scholarship. Renewable for four years, the $7,000 award can provide $28,000 in assistance toward an undergraduate degree. Students who have achieved at the highest academic levels and demonstrate potential to contribute to the Washburn community are invited to apply for the Richey Scholarship.

Washburn University awarded the prestigious Bryden Scholarship to Taylor Romanchek for the 2021-2022 school year. The Bryden Scholarship, provided by the Blanche Bryden Foundation, goes to one outstanding student from Shawnee County. The scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship, renewable annually.
